On
Saturday, 27th October, Chithue Sonam Frasi, one of the Tibetan
parliament members representing the Tibetans in Europe visited the
Tibetan community in Holland.
The
meeting with the Tibetan community was very successful. He explained
to the Tibetan community members at length the workings of the
Tibetan parliament in exile, the importance of the Chatrel
contribution and updated on the current status of Sino-Tibetan
dialogue.
He
informed the Tibetans that during September 2007's assembly session,
the Tibetan parliament-in-exile made an amendment to the rules and
regulations governing the green book contribution. This amendment
was to grant a one off amnesty to any Tibetan who has missed their
green book contribution and who now wishes to start or renew making
their contribution. The amnesty would be that these Tibetans would
not be asked to back pay any contributions missed in the past. This
will enable quite a number of Tibetans to resume green book
contributions to the Tibetan government in exile, who were deterred
from making the payment due to the large sums involved in some
cases.
On
28th October, Chithue Sonam Frasi attended the annual conference of
the International Campaign for Tibet, Europe, where he was one of
the keynote speakers. |
